Winston-Salem
Winston-Salem is a wonderful city located in North Carolina. Here you’ll find great attractions, excellent employers, an active downtown area and arts community. Winston-Salem has a history dating back to the early colonial days which brings and interesting and rich heritage to the community.
Winston-Salem, North Carolina is often called the “City of the Arts”. This happens for a few reasons:
- early as 1789 classical music was written in Winston-Salem
- the first arts council in the United States was created in Winston-Salem in 1949
- the first chamber music ensembles and community orchestras in the colonies were formed in Winston-Salem
Today, Winston-Salem’s downtown has a large and diverse arts community. Downtown Winston-Salem is home to many cafes, art galleries, museums and old architecture. This has lead to wide growth in the number of Winston Salem apartments which are downtown and therefore close to the Winston-Salem Arts District.
Winston-Salem is well known for its wine production because of the mild climate and rich soil. A number of wineries and vineyards can be found in the area. Some of the local wineries include:

Wake Forest University also calls Winston-Salem home. This private university offers world class Law, Medical, Business programs as well ass the Arts and Sciences. Winston-Salem also offers a lot of children-friendly attractions and things to do. Tanglewood Park, The Children’s Museum and SciWorks are a few of the attractions that kids will love. You will also find many small to medium size business which in fact make up the vast majority of employers in the Winston-Salem area.
